Exceptional Lowcountry homes

A home is a reflection of the people who live there. What’s important to you will be evident in the carefully selected finishes and the intentionally designed views of your Lowcountry property. Creating such a space requires a team dedicated to the craft of building. That dedication is the foundation of a Seaboard Builders home.

Kiawah Preserve House

Tucked away at the northeastern end of Kiawah Island, The Preserve is defined by hundreds of acres of protected maritime forest and salt marshes. Facing the glassy expanse of Blue Heron Pond, this home was thoughtfully positioned to embrace its serene surroundings, serving as a quiet observer of the landscape and resulting in a sanctuary where nature leads and architecture responds.

A masterclass in coastal texture and architectural restraint, the home’s facade is fully wrapped in NuCedar shingles, offering the timeless, silvered aesthetic of classic Kiawah architecture. Harbor Gray Limestone steps lead through integrated planters to a steel-and-glass entry door, where decorative corbels provide a nod to traditional craftsmanship. At the rear, the home’s profile shifts toward total transparency; an infinity-edge pool creates a seamless visual bridge to the water, framed by an expansive screened porch that serves as the primary outdoor living room, complete with a professional summer kitchen and a plaster-finished fireplace.

Inside, the home breathes with an airy, voluminous elegance, characterized by eleven-foot ceilings and wide-plank white oak flooring. The interiors, curated by PWD Studio, strike a balance between moody modern flair and organic comfort. A sophisticated palette—anchored by ivory-toned cabinetry and bespoke millwork—is punctuated by hand-applied plaster work on the fireplace and range hood. The owners have truly brought the outdoors in, filling the light-drenched rooms with a lush collection of plants and greenery that echo the maritime forest beyond the glass, creating an atmosphere that is both curated and deeply soulful.

The transition to the pond is anchored by a three-panel Eurowall door system that disappears entirely into the wall, creating an uninterrupted flow for a lifestyle centered around the water and the fresh island air. It is a home built for slow afternoons and quiet observation; one might spend hours bird-watching from the comfort of the screened porch or enjoying the company of the family dog as he naps on the limestone pool deck. Whether it is an intimate evening by the cast stone hearth or a summer day by the infinity pool, the residence offers a rare sense of permanence.

This property stands as a definitive example of Seaboard Builders’ philosophy: that a home should be a reflection of its landscape and a sanctuary for those who inhabit it. By balancing high-design with a deep respect for the Kiawah site, Seaboard has crafted a legacy residence as enduring as the ancient forest surrounding it.
